A small detour...

This week we experienced a slight change of plans when Carinna started running fever. It was not high enough for an ER visit, so I took her to the clinic bright and early Thursday morning... only to be informed that we would be sent over to the Children's Hospital.

Newborns + fever = hospital stay (and LOTS of fun tests)
So we stayed for a 24 hr observation. This is how she spent most of her stay. Her arm with the IV had a splint on it and she had no idea what she was supposed to do with that stiff arm!
On the bright side, all of the money that this detour cost us also bought us a charming little handmade sign! At least they make it festive for you!

All tests have come back negative so far for illness. Hopefully it was just some random spike in fever caused by an immature immune system. We have up to 4 days to see if the cultures grow anything... if so, we may be back up there! Fingers crossed for no growth!

She's ONE MONTH old!

It is hard to believe that we have been a family of four for one whole month! This little girl is getting pretty big!

She doesn't always like getting her picture taken...
But her brother likes playing with her... and she likes him... except when he accidentally sits on her.

Birthday Celebration!

Yesterday we celebrated the dad's birthday (he's 29... or so he says)! Unfortunately my life is a little crazy right now... and to make matters worse I stupidly thought I could handle working at VBS this week... so, things have been more crazy than usual.

VBS= early mornings + rushing + wanting to pull my hair out!

All that to say that I did not have a chance to make a cake for the dad's birthday! Sorry honey. So we bought an undecorated one for him at Walmart and I let the boy work his decorative magic on it! But it seems that he can't resist the urge to taste test as he works...

Note the large holes in the border icing... guess who gets to eat that corner of the cake. Maybe that was his evil plan all along!
But all in all I would say that it turned out looking very nice... even with the holes!
